The #1 Determinant for Happiness – The Better Newsletter #111

You’ve probably heard the Harvard research that identified the #1 determinant of a long, healthy, happy life.

Is it diet, exercise, genetics, environment? Those all matter, but the #1 determinant is LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS.

I’ve been thinking a lot about that in our increasingly “All-AI, All The Time” world.

I’ve been fortunate to make long-time friends in my career. I often hear from people I worked with years ago who circle back to share an update and/or to hire me for their latest project.

Thing is, I don’t want to wait, I want to initiate!

So, instead of just hoping to hear from people I care about – and enjoying when they take the time to get in touch – I created a way to stay connected.

My online Client Community is free with no selling, EVER! We connect in our private Facebook group + monthly group call with POP! Seats, Insight of the Month, Member of the Month, and a breakout session to brainstorm & strategize your current project.

You’re welcome to join if any of the following are true:

• You’ve hired me as a speaker or coach
• You’ve interviewed me on your podcast, TV, or radio show
• You’ve been certified in one of my topics
• You’ve attended one of my trainings, masterclasses, or retreats

If any of these describe you, YOU’RE IN! Simply reply to this email, and we will send an official invitation and link to join us on our live call this Tues, 11/25.

ACTION

This Thanksgiving, we have a choice… We can talk about whether the turkey is dry and what divides us – or we can have a “rising tide” discussion about the many things right in our world.

Share these conversation kick-starters to get the ball rolling.

  • WHO is someone you appreciate and WHY?
    • Be specific about something they said or did that supported you, mentored you, or stretched you.
  • WHAT is something you learned this year that you’re grateful for?
  • WHAT is an experience or achievement this year that you’ll always be glad you did?

Do you have a real-life example you'd like to share of how you deal with difficult people - without becoming one yourself? A story of how you've learned to think on your feet and handle challenging situations in the moment? I'd love to hear it, along with any other sensitive, stressful situations you suggest I include in my work on Talking on Eggshells? With your permission, we may share it with readers and audiences so they can benefit from your insights and lessons-learned.
