Turn Quit Into Grit – The Better Newsletter #45

Did you see the message Noah Lyles posted following his thrilling 100-meter win in the Paris Olympics?

“I have asthma, allergies, dyslexia, ADD, anxiety, and depression. But I will tell you that what you HAVE does not define what you can BECOME. Why not you?!”

Wow! These inspiring athletes are walking-talking-running models of AGEncy in action.

In the years they’ve spent mastering their sport and prepping for the Games, they’ve all encountered setbacks and challenges.

And they all chose to replace REASONS with RESULTS.

Noah Lyles could have used those health diagnoses as the reasons WHY he gave up and didn’t pursue his dream.

Instead, he turned those excuses into incentives, those reasons into results.

Even in the desert of his dream, Noah Lyles chose GRIT over QUIT.

Today, and every day, be like Noah Lyles and set your focus on what you want to becomethen find a way, rather than an excuse.

  • Next, divide your paper into 2 columns

    • On the top of the left column, put CAN’T CONTROL.

    • On the top of the right column, put CAN CONTROL.

  • On the leftlist the obstacles that are out of your control. On the right, list what you CAN DO about them.

  • Finally, post your AGEncy™ Inspiration Card featuring your goal and what you CAN and CANNOT control in a place where it’s in-sight-in-mind.

  • Every time you get discouraged and are tempted to give up, look up at it and imagine how grateful you’ll be knowing you opted for AGEncy instead of excuses.
